Smiler is RECORD OF THE WEEK
If you work in the music industry, odds on every day you will get an email from these people informing you of a the best in new music that is generating a sufficient amount of heat out in these here hills.
Well on Tuesday 18th May 2010, @SmilerMusic was the official Record Of The Day.
If that wasn’t enough, each and every week the music website publishes a magazine with all the details of the artists that are about to blow and features them in a nice tidy PDF.
It also, makes one of its artist’s and their track the ‘Record Of The Week’.

In other news, Enza is officially on the BBC 1Xtra ‘B’ Playlist, @SmilerMusic is in the May edition of RWD MAG and to top it all off MTV Base, The Box, Hits, Flava and AKA are all spinning the video.
Not bad considering most people were raising eyebrows at a hard Hip Hop track that had no singing hook, no bridge and no candy floss.
Breaking the mould…
Guest Blogging: Who’s Smiling Now?
Yep, im getting about a bit, sort of like an Internet Blogging hoe, spreading my seeds and growing trees. Yeah that makes little sense, but in short you may have noticed my article for Gumtree this week and im now also writing for BBC Radio One/1Xtra DJ Mistajam’s Website.
My introduction article entitled ‘Who’s Smiling Now’ identifies the emergence of a new Hip Hop artist named Smiler who i also have the pleasure of working closely with.
Each week i’ll be posting new articles to Mistajam’s Blog and you can stay updated by following myself @iamluca or @Mistajam on Twitter.

Who Can We ‘Rely On’ Really?
Family? Friends? Employers? Politicians? I could go on. From the way my Twitter followers act it appears the only thing they rely on is Eastenders being on the TV four times per week… and when it isn’t… you better find a World War bunker.
The topic of relying on people is a general discussion and it amazes me how the consensus is that you have to rely on people in life. But do you really?

To be perfectly honest, i find Bruce Wayne/Batman to be much more of a role model when it comes to proving that with determination, self belief and being proactive, you can achieve without having to rely on anyone else.
It was a quote within ‘Batman Begins’ that really made me think that dismiss the obvious fictional creation; Batman and Bruce Wayne stand for a whole lot more.
“It’s not who i am underneath, but what i do that defines me.”
With this in mind, i wrote a post about relying on people, and whether it is within yourself or others that defines what you stand for. Cos Who Can We ‘Rely On’ Really?

Wait a minute, this isn’t Personal Development, Social Media or Business Fundamentals!
Nope, this is Smiler. Without a doubt one of the most talented UK Artists to grace a microphone in recent years and i’ve had the pleasure of being at the forefront of his campaign.
The impressive full video to the lead single ENZA drops next week.
In the mean time check out the exclusive behind the scenes video hosted by the hilarious comedian Eddie Kadi.

10 Reasons Why Musicians Must Use Twitter
It’s not rocket science that Twitter was hugely influential to the success of Tinie Tempah’s Pass Out heading to the top of the UK Singles Chart for two weeks in March 2010.

But why is Twitter so important to the marketing campaign of an artist?
Are the artists that are not utilising Twitter to it’s full capacity missing out?
Are they jeopardizing their career also?
I read a blog post recently written by DJ Semtex. He touched on some key points that Musicians and Artists should follow if they are serious about a career in this industry and the post picked up some interesting comments from both sides of the spectrum.
I then decided to investigate into 10 Reasons Why Musicians and Artists Must use Twitter.

The Endless Job Search – Help Luca!
This is a very nice blog right? I think so, but i’d be lying if i said it made any money.
While i love working on some exciting projects, freelancing and helping out others with advice and support so that they can connect the dots to achieve their dreams; i am searching for an opportunity that can provide a steady income and put me on that path for a prosperous career.
To date i have signed up to 15+ recruitment sites/agencies, sent out over 50 applications, with specifically designed covering letters and CV’s… but, i have had no success as yet.
So here is the question… Do you know anyone that can help me find a job?

Industry Fakes and Industry Snakes
So what do you do then? Is the general question you ask someone after being introduced to a friendly face. Well that’s how they appear until they unleash their rehearsed lines from their invisible sack of bullsh*t that they carry with them. You know who im talking about; the relentless amount of fakers, takers, liars and snakes that continue to bombard us with their name drops of imaginary clients, fictional past projects and future ideas in their quest to jump on a bandwagon or poach on our vision to achieve the dream.
